Louise is inspired by the natural world. This intrigue began when undertaking a degree in ceramics at Camberwell School of Art and continued throughout her Masters Degree at the University of Wales during the late 1990’s.
Louise captures the diversity of flowers and leaves permanently in plaster, later transferring these detailed and intricate forms onto clay through press moulding. Working predominantly in porcelain paper clay, Louise’s work explores the translucency, luminosity and delicacy of this material. She uses stains and lustres to highlight the fragility of both subject and material, accentuating the journey of light and heightening our awareness of nature’s creative genius.
