Throwing for Beginners. Begins Wednesday 25th February for 6 weeks
Our Throwing for Beginners pottery course at Clay Shed, Bristol is the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to explore the art of throwing on the potter’s wheel. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to refresh your skills, our course offers a welcoming and supportive environment designed to build confidence and skills.
Our experienced throwing tutor Alice Shields will help to nurture your technique through guided tuition and practical demonstrations. Additional processes will be introduced each week to enhance your understanding of what’s happening with the wheel, your body and the clay.
Over the 6 weeks, you’ll learn how to:
Centre clay on the wheel
Throw basic forms such as cylinders and bowls
Pull handles
Turn foot rings
At the end of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to glaze your finished pottery pieces.
